Forest Bathing at Fernwood Botanical Gardens
During our afternoon we will enjoy gentle movement and guidance for your slow, sensory mindful walk (*forest bath), After some brief instruction in Mindfulness and the benefits of Nature therapy, you can take time to pause in a Sit Spot and then rejoin the group to create a Nature Mandala in silence or have a seasonal guided meditation. We will close in Circle with open reflection. Appropriate for all-ages; can be customized for children or adults separately. See here for an introduction to the origins of the shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) practice in Japan. Classes are subject to cancellation based on weather and number of sign ups. Deirdre will email all registered participants in the regretful event we need to cancel.

Mindfulness in Nature Summer Camp
Deirdre designed and directed this camp at Fernwood during the Summers of 2018-2021. Today she supports camp programming through offering “mindfulness in nature” workshops and courses.
Programs draw from yoga, mindfulness meditation and the creative process, inviting children to restore themselves in Nature.
Deirdre invites participants of all ages to:
- immerse themselves in ecological learning (reading the forest and weather patterns or studying bird alarms and animal tracks),
- build focused attention skills (journaling from our sit spots, creating nature mandalas) and
- have the chance to practice mindfulness and soothe anxious or overstimulated nervous systems with friends (story-yoga, breath-work, constructive rest) in a beautiful natural retreat setting.
We invite you to play and restore in Nature with us!
